- Who am I?
- My name is Martina Zuppo and I am 20 years old. I did my first year of college down in West Virginia at West Virginia Wesleyan, and then transferred home to Delaware County Community College due to being homesick. I am currently a part time supervisor on the night-shift at UPS. I grew up all my life having dogs as pets and I currently have four dogs, all Jack Russel mixes, named Patches, Pokie, Bugsy, and Bear. I have a younger sister named Nicole who is 18 and a younger brother named Mark Junior who is 13. I am currently in a very happy relationship with my boyfriend of six months. My hobbies include playing any kind of sports, whether on the softball diamond, kicking a soccer ball around with my sister, or even playing catch with my little brother or my dad. In my free time I also like to play with my dogs, spend time with my family and my boyfriend, babysit within my community, and sometimes I enjoy reading the occasional book.
- Who are my favorite writers and/or composers?
- My favorite writers consist of a few authors from both novels and poetry. I love Maya Angelou, Robert Frost, Jodi Picoult, and finally Nicholas Sparks.
- What types of writing do I enact most often? Consider different genres (poetry, letters) and media (texts, Instagram).
- In today's society my life mainly consists of enacting forms of media. I probably write more text messages than I can think of in a day, mainly to my mom and my boyfriend, I Snapchat very often and most of my pictures contain a text banner on them to respond to the sender, and just the other day I created an Instagram post with a lengthy caption as well. Sometimes I do compose entries into my diary at home to vent out my feelings. Also, I do a lot of formal writing at work putting comments on paperwork to display employees progress or what they need improvement on.
- When do I write? Consider physical and emotional places.
- I typically write through my social media and text messages all throughout my day, during the morning at school, in the afternoon when I get home from school, and in the late evening to early morning at my job. If I write something more personal such as my journal, I will write these typically in the early evening after dinner and before I go to work.
- Where do I write? Consider physical and emotional places -- and -- writer tools such as laptop, journal, paper.
- I usually write in a few places throughout my day. I like to write on my couch in the late afternoon when its quiet at home from my siblings being in school and my parents at work. This time of day is usually me writing pieces for school for various classes electronically on my laptop. I also like to write in my journal with a pen because ink just writes nicely in my opinion. Usually this is late at night while I am relaxing on my bed before I leave for work.
- Why do I write?
- I write mainly to keep in communication with my friends and family, especially since a lot of my family lives in Florida or a lot of the southern states. I also write, specifically in my journal to relieve a lot of my feelings trapped inside. I am not great at sharing my inner feelings with my friends, family, or boyfriend to begin with, so writing in my journal allows me to release anything I experienced that day, or anything I am feeling that day in a truthful manner and in a judgement free environment. I also write in my journal because it allows me to keep my thoughts in a safe place and look back on them later to understand better how I was feeling in those moments.

- How have my past experiences shaped my author identity and how can I reshape my author identity in this course?
- My past experiences with writing were in high school and I was a very thorough and overly detailed writer when it came to my pieces and this was very frustrating because I would overwrite and include way too much details in fear that my writing wasn't perfect. It took me awhile in high school, up until graduation, to actually be disciplined enough with my writing to keep it concise with just enough details. I can reshape my author identity in this course by continuing to keep my writing concise and inclusive of sufficient enough details, so that way my readers are still interested, but not bored from reading a piece that is too many pages.
